Microsoft Office

What do you think of the new Microsoft Office 2007? (as opposed to the older versions of Office - 2000, 2002, 2003) Is it easier and/or friendlier to work with?

I have to admit that I have been very slow to transition to Vista and Office 07. I am still running XP on my PC and Office 03.

On my MAC I have Open Office and am running Leopard.

I work on Vista and Office 07 at client sites and find it very intuitive, but I have still not made the switch. So, I'm not sure that I can say I like one over the other... it is simply a matter of cost.

Vista has gotten a bad rap. I actually like the new OS and think its very fast and stable, especially with service pack 1. I have been using it since July and the system has not crashed on me once.
The draw back is that you need decent memory to run it. If you get a pc or laptop, I would not use it without at least 2 gigs of ram.

I think that Office 2007 went in a totally different way than it shouldve. By changing the interface so much some of the functionality has been lost. I feel that the change in format DOC vs. DOCX also was something that engineers did not consider; why change it so that older versions dont open it? Those are the two big issues I have with Office 07, other than that, its still a great product and way better than open source (my own opinion).

I agree with you Luis. Office 2007 is scary just looking at it. The problem now is that if you do not have 07 installed on your computer (running older Office 2000, 2002, 2004) you have to download a converter to be able to open a file created in 07. I am not sure why Microsoft would do this. Now, you need to do an extra step just to view one of their files.
